China Aided Navua Hospital Project Initiated

Dr. HAN Zhiqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, and Mr. Pio Tikoduadua, Permanent Secretary for the Prime Minister's Office of Fiji, completed Exchange of Letters on behalf of their respective governments on 23 Nov, formally launching the new Navua Hospital Project with Chinese Government grants.

Recently, a feasibility study team for the Navua Hospital Project assigned by the Chinese Government visited Fiji to carry out the on the spot study. With the comprehensive assistance from the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Health and other Fiji Government departments, the team completed its task following a month's intensive work. The design contract for the hospital project was finally signed on 25 Nov.

The new Navua Hospital funded by the Chinese Government shall have a construction area of over 3000 square meters and 20 beds. The main works will include an outpatient clinic, emergency clinic, medical technical rooms, inpatient rooms, administrative and supporting facilities. The Chinese side will provide certain medical equipments as well.

Once completed, the new Navua Hospital will provide high-quality medical and health care for local residents in that area.
