On August 1, Ambassador Zhou Jian held a press briefing on the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee at the embassy. More than 30 guests attended the event, including the Great Council of Chiefs Delegation, journalists from Chinese and Fijian media such as Fiji Sun, Fiji Times, FBC, Fiji TV, and Xinhua News Agency, local scholars, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Fiji.

Ambassador Zhou comprehensively demonstrated the significance and results of the 3rd Plenary Session, thoroughly explained on the new opportunities for the development of China-Fiji relations brought by China's important measures of further deepening reforms and promoting Chinese modernization.

Madam Kepa, a Paramount Chief in Fiji, shared the results of her recent visit to China, and gave high praise on Chinese modernization and China’s achievements in poverty alleviation.

Warm and friendly talks were carried out during the briefing. Ambassador Zhou and GCC delegation answered media’s questions about China-Fiji cooperation in various fields including poverty reduction, drug control, and trade.

The event was extensively covered by the Fijian media, who spoke highly of China’s reform and opening-up experience as beneficial reference for Fiji’s poverty reduction and sustainable development, and believed that there are broad prospects for cooperation between China and Fiji in various fields.
