On September 17, the Opening Ceremony of China-Fiji Friendship Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition was held at the University of South Pacific. Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Ms. Selina Kuruleca, Acting Vice-Chancellor of USP Prof. Gurmeet Singh attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Co-Director of Confucius Institute Dr. Li Yini, teachers and students of Confucius Institute, Chinese Community in Fiji and Chinese language teachers, more than 50 guests participated in the event.
Ambassador Zhou emphasized that calligraphy and painting are important ways for Chinese people to express their emotions, essential carriers for the inheritance of Chinese culture, as well as connecting bridges for civilization exchanges and mutual learning. Hope these calligraphy and painting works can build a bridge between our two peoples, and let our cultures blossom more splendidly through mutual learning. Wish the China-Fiji friendship will be like the students’ works, energetic, creative, and colorful!
Afterwards, Amb. Zhou Jian cut the ribbon for the opening of the exhibition and enjoyed the art works with the guests.
