On May 23, Ambassador Zhou Jian attended Handover Ceremony of the Chinese Embassy’s assistance for the Refurbishment Works of the State House of Fiji. The President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu attended the event.

Ambassador Zhou Jian stated that the assistance for the Refurbishment Works of the State House of Fiji serves as a special tribute to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji, reflecting China's respect for Fijian history and culture, highlighting China's sincere assistance to the country, and indicating a bright future for cooperation between China and Fiji. China is willing to work with Fiji to jointly implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, respect each other's core interests, actively expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and bring more benefits to the people of China and Fiji.

President Lalabalavu expressed sincere gratitude for China's generous assistance. President Lalabalavu reaffirmed that the People’s Republic of China is an important partner of the Republic of Fiji, and the two countries have always respected and supported each other. Fiji firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and is willing to enhance bilateral friendship and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
