Ambassador Zhou Jian attended the 24th Chinese Bridge Competition Fiji Preliminary Rounds

On June 6th, the 24th Chinese Bridge Competition Fiji Preliminary Rounds was successfully held at USP Laucala Campus. H.E. Ambassador Zhou Jian and more than 100 guests attended the event, including Deputy VC of USP Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Director of the Confucius Institute Ms. Li Chunxue, representatives from the Chinese community and USP students.

In his speech, Ambassador Zhou said that Chinese language is a bridge between cultures, a bridge to opportunities and a bridge of friendship. Wish students could embark on a new journey of cultural exchange—becoming “ambassadors of culture”. Through the cadence of your voices and the strokes of your pens, may you weave a Chinese Knot that connects our two nations and reaches out to the wider world.

Vice President of BUPT Prof. Su Sen, Deputy VC of USP Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Director of the Confucius Institute Ms. Li Chunxue wished the competition a great success, hoped Fijian youth could learn about the real, multidimensional and comprehensive China through Chinese language. Centering on the theme of “One World One Family”, 9 contestants demonstrated their Chinese speeches, songs, dances, paintings and other talents. Their performances won warm applause from the audience present.
