On January 25th, Ambassador Zhou Jian attended 2025 Happy Chinese New Year Folklife Festival, celebrated coming Spring Festival with more than 500 guests, including Fiji Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Biman Prasad, several cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament and overseas Chinese in Fiji.
Ambassador Zhou first extended new year greetings to all Fijian friends and overseas Chinese in Fiji, and said that since Spring Festival was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, it will further convey the concepts of Chinese civilization, and contribute to the exchanges and mutual understanding among different civilizations. This temple fair will be a manifestation of the close bond between the Chinese and Fijian people, and will convey the beautiful vision of mutual understanding and lasting friendship between the two countries. This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Fiji diplomatic ties, we are ready to work with Fijian friends, to make China-Fiji friendship be passed on from generation to another!
Hon. Prasad said the Chinese New Year has become a universal cultural event celebrated by all nations, and the Year of the Snake symbolizes wisdom, resilience and transformation. He hoped that this spirit would inspire greater progress in China-Fiji relations.
Afterwards, Ambassador Zhou and Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Prasad jointly unveiled the Zodiac stamps for the Year of the Snake, watched exhibitions of Chinese intangible cultural heritage such as hand-painted fans and Jingdezhen porcelain, and enjoyed the Chinese New Year concert performance.
