On February 2nd, Ambassador Zhou Jian attended Embrace the Chinese New Year· Spring Festival Market, celebrated the Spring Festival with more than 1000 guests, including Fiji Acting Prime Minister Hon. Biman Prasad, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Viliame Gavoka, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica, ministers, members of parliament, ambassadors, members of Chinese community and people from all walks of life in Fiji.
In his speech, Ambassador Zhou first extended new year greetings to all Fijian friends and overseas Chinese in Fiji, and said that the Spring Festival Market is a stage for cultural display, a bond that connects hearts and a bridge for friendship. Zhou Jian encouraged all overseas Chinese in Fiji to draw wisdom from the history of 170 years of the arrival of Chinese in Fiji and 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Fiji, and work together with all sectors of Fiji to create a more glorious tomorrow.
On behalf of the Fijian government, Hon. Kamikamica extended new year greetings to the Chinese people and Chinese community in Fiji. He said that the Year of the Snake symbolizes wisdom, resilience and transformation. He hoped that this spirit would inspire greater progress in Fiji-China relations.
Ambassador Zhou Jian and the guests enjoyed the Chinese New Year cultural performances, visited the market stalls, strengthened the China-Fiji friendship.
