On February 24, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian paid a courtesy visit on the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) and Black Rock Camp. During his visit, Amb. Zhou was accorded a quarter guard of honor and a traditional welcome ceremony. He was briefed on the development and ongoing programs of JTFC, visited the facilities of Black Rock Camp, and had a bilateral meeting with Commander JTFC Brigadier General Gadai.
Brigadier General Gadai reaffirmed the RFMF’s commitment to the one-China principle and expressed gratitude for the long-term assistance and support from the Chinese government and the People’·s Liberation Army (PLA). He stated that the RFMF and JTFC will continue to deepen military cooperation with China. Amb. Zhou appreciated the RFMF’s adherence to the one-China principle. He highlighted that China is willing to build on the momentum of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and the 170th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese people in Fiji to elevate bilateral relations. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in high-level exchanges, peacekeeping training, equipment support and more, so as to jointly maintain regional and international peace and stability.
