Fiji Congratulates China on 71st Founding Anniversary

On October 2nd, H.E. President Jioji Konrote, Hon. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Hon. Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and their spouses attended a special reception with Chinese Community leaders at the Chinese Ambassador's residence to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Earlier, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping to convey his best wishes on China's 71st founding anniversary.

PM Bainimarama said Fiji and China have enjoyed long and friendly relations over the past 45 years and this signifies the commitment of both nations, working together to advance their mutual areas of cooperation. PM thanked China for its continuous support and assistance to Fiji and expressed confidence that friendship between the two countries will grow from strength to strength in the future. PM also wished China continued prosperity and success, and the Chinese people happiness.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji,H.E. Mr. Qian Bo said, over the past 45 years, China-Fiji relations have maintained a sound momentum of development as cooperation in various fields continue to advance. Such bilateral relationship has not only benefited the two countries and peoples but also exerted a positive influence on the development of relations between China and Pacific Island countries.

Ambassador Qian emphasized that no matter how the international situation evolves, China will always strengthen solidarity and cooperation with developing countries, stand firmly for international fairness and justice, and adhere to the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs. China will work with Fiji to facilitate post-COVID economic recovery, actively expand practical cooperation in all areas under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
