Chinese Ambassador Hands Over A New Aid to Prime Minister for TC Yasa Relief Efforts

On December 30, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo handed over a cheque of 420,000 Fiji dollars on behalf of the Chinese Government to Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, to support Fiji in response to the devastation caused by TC Yasa.

Ambassador Qian conveyed Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s message to Prime Minister Bainimarama in person, expressing that the Chinese Government and people are deeply sympathetic with the devastation incurred on the Fijian people by tropical cyclone Yasa. Ambassador Qian said that he was impressed and moved by the indomitable spirit and will of mutual help of the Fijian people, and was confident that the Fijian people will conquer the difficulties and reconstruct their homes under the strong leadership of the Prime Minister and the Fijian government. Ambassador hoped that the new batch of aid would inject confidence and courage to the people, and help them return to normal life soon. Noting that China has always been a steadfast and reliable development partner of Fiji, Ambassador said that China stands ready to offer further assistance as required.

Prime Minister Bainimarama commended the profound friendship between Fiji and China and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the sincere assistance and continued support from the Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy in Fiji.
