
On April 9th, Chargé d'affaires a.i. Wang Yuan of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji attended the ceremony marking the approval of the preliminary design on external review for the China-Aid Fiji Vanua Levu Road Upgrading Project. Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, cabinet ministers and other senior government officials, as well as Counselor Liu Ke of the Chinese Embassy also participated in this event.

Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka expressed highest gratitude to the Chinese government for its generous assistance. He appreciated the professional spirit and responsible attitude of the Chinese expert team, stating that the project will greatly improve the infrastructure in Vanua Levu of Fiji, help narrow the urban-rural gap, and promote coordinated development between Vanua Levu and Viti Levu.
Mr. Wang Yuan stated that the Vanua Levu Road Upgrading Project is a vivid practice of the deeply aligning between the Belt and Road Initiative and Fiji’s National Development Plan. It reflects the high consensus reached by both China and Fiji in technical standards, design concepts, and cooperation mechanisms, and further demonstrates the firm commitment of the two peoples to work together and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
