From April 17 to 27, Lautoka Zhonghua School, Suva Yat Sen School, and the Confucius Institute at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji successively held a series of events to celebrate the International Chinese Language Day. Chargé d affaires a.i. Wang Yuan of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji attended the events and delivered speeches. Officials from Fijian education authorities, teachers, students, parents, overseas Chinese, and Chinese language teachers also participated in the events.

Wang Yuan stated that the Chinese language carries the wisdom of the 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization and serves as a bridge for people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations. The year 2026 marks the first year of China’s implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan, and the world will witness a proactive and promising China. He expressed his hope that young Fijians can realize their dreams through learning Chinese and become ambassadors of China-Fiji friendship.

During the events, students performed lion dances, traditional Chinese dances, Chinese songs, and poetry recitations. They also experienced cultural activities such as calligraphy, paper-cutting, pitch-pot, and painted facial masks, and visited a digital culture and technology exhibition, deepening their understanding and love for Chinese culture.
