
On May 25th, Chargé d’affaires a.i. Wang Yuan of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji attended the Opening Ceremony of Shanxi Yingxian Wooden Pagoda Exhibition and Intangible Cultural Heritage Promotion, organized by China Cultural Centre in Fiji.
Nearly 100 guests attended the ceremony, including officials from Fiji’s Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs, representatives from the arts and academia, and Mr Jin Zhang, Deputy Director-General for Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province.
Wang Yuan stated that this year marks the Shanxi-Fiji Culture and Tourism Exchange and Promotion Year. These exhibits have traveled all the way from Shanxi Province, not only to present an aesthetic feast of Eastern architecture, but also to build an ever-stronger bridge for China-Fiji friendship.
During the event, guests enjoyed a concert, viewed the wooden pagoda exhibition and the Shanxi intangible cultural heritage creative products exhibition, and sampled Shanxi’s specialties. The atmosphere was lively, punctuated by frequent applause.
