On June 26, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji H.E. Mr. Zhou Jian attended the Tea for Harmony Yaji Culture Salon themed “Care for the family, Protect health”, hosted by China Cultural Center in Fiji. Also present were the First Lady Madam Emily Lalabalavu, wife of the Hon. Speaker Madam Elina Jitoko, and over 70 guests including representatives of Fiji Nursing Association and the Chinese community.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhou noted that tea is a healthy way of life, a carrier of the Chinese culture, and a witness to China-Fiji Friendship. This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Fiji diplomatic relations, as well as the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Tea and kava will continue to join hands to bring a better future for our nations and advocate for world peace.

The First Lady thanked the Chinese Embassy for its recent assistance of the refurbishment works of the State House of Fiji. She commended the Chinese tea as a symbol of aesthetics, health and well-being, and highlighted the role of women in promoting the health of families.

The guests tasted a variety of Chinese tea, enjoyed cultural performances brought by Chinese and Fijian teenagers, and engaged in lively conversations.
